Our Florida electrical contractor continuing education courses are code based and written using real world applications. Information is explained from the electrical code inspector's perspective but translated into simple explanations of the 2005 NEC codebook. The NEC Review Part 1 and Electrical Law course covers chapters 1 and 2 of the 2005 NEC codebook. This course offers lessons on Article 100 which includes definitions of common industry terms as set forth by the NFPA (National Fire Protection Association) and the NECC (National Electrical Code Committee), gaining a more thorough understanding of the 2005 NEC codebook, and the most common misconceptions of the national electrical code.

If you need help passing the state exam, we offer online electrical training for florida, and live classroom seminars. These classes will prepare you to pass the Florida electrical license exam. The structured lessons focus on the key points of the state exams, and show you what reference materials are essential to passing the state exams.

We are currently developing Florida electrical contractor continuing education courses. The continuing education will maintain the high stardards that American Contractor's Exam Services has set for all the training we provide. The courses that will be offered are:

• Wiring Methods and Materials - This course reviews Article 300 of the 2005 NEC codebook which includes topics such as general requirements, conductors for gneral wiring, open wiring on insulators, mineral-insulated, Metal-Sheathed Cable: Type MI, power and control tray cable, and flexible metal conduit.
• Grounding and Bonding - The topics that are covered in this course include definitions, system grounding, grounding electrode system and grounding electrode conductors, enclosures, raceways, service cable grounding, bonding, equipment grounding and equipment grounding conductors, methods of equipment grounding, direct-current systems, grounding of systems and circuits of 1 kV and over, instruments, meters, and relays.
• Lockout, Tagout (OSHA) - The subject matter will cover energy-isolating devices, periodic inspections, additional safety requirements, energy control procedures, energy control programs, requirements for Lockout/Tagout devices, employee training, application of controls and Lockout/Tagout devices, and the removal of Locks/Tags.
• Electrical Systems for 1 & 2 Family Dwellings - Continuing education that reviews tpoics such as installations and inspections of services, power and lighting distribution, branch circuits and feeders, low vlotage and limited energy systems, general requirements, outlet devices, pull and junction boxes, conduit bodies and fittings, IRC reference tables, and requirements for applications.

These are the current requirements for renewing your Florida electrical contractors license. We will always provide the newest information available and will update the requirements as soon as there are changes.


• To renew your Electrical Contractors License in the state of Florida, you are required to complete 14 hours of continuing education every two years.
• Seven hours must be based on technical subjects and three hours may be on any subject so chosen by the licensee as long as the course has been approved by the licensing board.
• Of the remaining 14 hours, one hour of each must be included: workplace safety, business practices, worker’s compensation and an Advanced module of the Florida Building code.
• Contractors licenses expire August 31 of every even year and continuing education must be completed prior to the expiration. Course must be completed during the two year period. Extra CE hours can not be carried over.
• Online course providers must be able to document, upon audit, that a licensee has remained active in an online format for at least 50 minutes of each one hour of continuing education awarded. American Contractors logs time in and time out to the accumulated time. The option to fast forward through a presentation is also prohibited.
